Overview

The Commercial Title Examiner at Surety Title Company is responsible for the day-to-day examination of title files, ensuring proper identification of items for title commitments. The role requires reviewing various legal documents and property surveys while addressing post-closing questions and training new employees.

Key responsibilities

  • Review county searches and upper court judgment searches
  • Prepare examination write-up sheets for Title Insurance Commitments
  • Revise legal descriptions and prepare survey endorsements when necessary
  • Remove exceptions to title by reviewing documents
  • Answer questions related to title insurance and assist with post-closing issues
  • Authorize the release of escrows after reviewing title documents
  • Interface with county searchers to ensure correct search work is performed
  • Manage calls and emails from internal and external customers
  • Provide training to new employees
  • Document applicable notes to file and scan all documents to file

Required skills

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • NJ and PA State issued Title Insurance Producers License
  • 2+ years in Title Insurance/Settlement industry
  • Experience in Pennsylvania and New Jersey Commercial Title industry preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general business document interpretation
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team and maintain a professional demeanor
