Job Description

Overview

The Commercial Title Examiner at Surety Title Company is responsible for the examination of title files, reviewing all pertinent information related to properties to accurately prepare title commitments. This role requires interaction with county searchers, handling inquiries related to title insurance, and managing post-closing issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Review county searches and upper court judgment searches
  • Prepare examination write-up sheets for title commitments
  • Revise legal descriptions and prepare survey endorsements as necessary
  • Remove exceptions to title by reviewing relevant documents
  • Answer title insurance-related questions
  • Assist with post-closing questions or issues
  • Authorize the release of escrows after document review
  • Interface with county searchers to ensure correct search procedures
  • Provide training to new employees
  • Document applicable notes and scan documents for filing
  • Perform additional duties as requested

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • NJ and PA State issued Title Insurance Producers License
  • Two plus years in Title Insurance/Settlement industry
  • Experience in Pennsylvania and New Jersey Commercial Title industry preferred
  • Ability to read and analyze general business documents
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other office equipment
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Dependable and reliable work habits
