Job Description

Overview

The Commercial Lending Assistant at Plains State Bank will provide essential administrative and clerical support to commercial loan officers, ensuring the banking needs of both commercial and consumer customers are met. This role requires effective communication, organization, and teamwork within the bank to facilitate loan processing and customer service.

Key responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding bank services
  • Prepare loan worksheet approvals for new and renewed loans
  • Order title commitments, lien searches, and gather appraisal information
  • Review insufficient funds reports and assist customers accordingly
  • Prepare loan advances and pay downs as requested
  • Type wire transfers and stop payments
  • Research loan exceptions and take necessary actions to resolve them
  • Notarize documents
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain high customer service standards

Required skills

  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of commercial, consumer, and real estate loan documentation
  • Knowledge of lending regulations (UCC, HMDA, TILA, ECOA, CRA, RESPA)
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Math skills for calculations related to loans
  • Problem-solving and reasoning abilities
  • Teamwork and customer service skills
