Overview

As a Collision Technology Instructor at Southeast Technical College, you will utilize your automotive expertise to educate and mentor future professionals in the Collision Repair and Refinish program. Your role will blend hands-on instruction with curriculum development, preparing students for successful careers in the collision industry while ensuring the program meets current industry standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, industry-aligned instruction to meet program outcomes.
  • Develop, update, and deliver curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Use effective instructional strategies and technologies to engage students.
  • Design, administer, and evaluate assessments to measure learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to student recruitment, advising, and retention initiatives.
  • Participate in program development and accreditation activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student success initiatives.
  • Build partnerships with industry and community organizations.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain technical expertise.
  • Deliver lectures and oversee lab experiences in a shop environment.
  • Provide academic advising and mentor other department staff.
  • Participate in financial processes related to the program's budget.

Required skills

  • Associate's or Diploma in Collision Repair or Auto Body (Bachelor's preferred)
  • Minimum work experience: 2 years with Bachelor's, 4 years with AAS, 5 years with diploma
  • Computer skills: email, word processing, and spreadsheet software proficiency
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Leadership skills: decision-making, team building, problem-solving
  • Current ASE and I-CAR certifications preferred or ability to attain
  • Ability to actively listen and effectively communicate with others
