Overview

Galin Education is looking for a part-time College Counselor to assist high school students and their families during the college search and admissions process. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and have a solid understanding of colleges and admissions practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with 5+ students in each graduating class through the college admissions process
  • Communicate with parents regularly
  • Leverage publicly available data to inform advice and expertise
  • Participate in professional development opportunities such as conferences and webinars
  • Stay updated on trends in college admissions
  • Develop training materials for the team
  • Write blogs and articles for students and parents
  • Coordinate events to speak publicly about college admissions
  • Build relationships with local high school counselors and educational experts

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years in college admissions or five years as a high school counselor
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Expertise in using web-based tools for advising
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
