Job Description

Overview

The CNC Programmer at ACO, Inc. will set up, program, and operate various CNC machines to produce precision components as per engineering specifications. Candidates should have extensive CNC programming experience and a strong mechanical aptitude, with a focus on maintaining quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, laser, router and brakes) to manufacture precision parts.
  • Interpret and modify blueprints, drawings, and CAD models to create accurate programs.
  • Develop and optimize CNC programs to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and cutting parameters for each job.
  • Perform machine setups, offsets, and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and make necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot machining issues.
  • Maintain machine tools, work areas, and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow company safety and quality standards.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in CNC machining and programming
  • Proficiency with CNC programming software (e.g., BobCad, Jetcam, Amada or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of G-code and M-code
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and GD&T symbols
  • Skilled in precision measurement and quality inspection tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience with multi-axis CNC machines
  • Background in working with various metals and materials (aluminum, stainless steel, plastics)
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement initiatives
