Job Description

Overview

Productive Resources is seeking a CNC Programmer/Lead to join their engineering team in Eldridge, Iowa. The role involves programming, setting up, and running CNC machines independently while providing technical leadership in a small machine shop, focusing on precision manufacturing for high-tolerance components.

Key responsibilities

  • Independently program, set up, and run CNC mills and lathes to produce precision machined parts
  • Develop CNC programs using G- and M-code, CAM software, or both
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and solid models to determine machining strategy
  • Lead complex machine setups and first-article runs
  • Select tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters for tight tolerances
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues to maintain quality
  • Perform in-process inspection and validate parts meet dimensional and quality requirements
  • Create and document machining processes and operator instructions
  • Mentor other machinists and programmers as a technical lead
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams for improvements
  • Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives
  • Assist with onboarding and training new team members

Required skills

  • Extensive hands-on experience as a CNC programmer
  • Ability to independently program, set up, and run CNC machines
  • Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes in precision manufacturing
  • Proficiency with G- and M-codes, CAM software
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding of GD&T
  • Experience machining tight-tolerance components
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with multiple CNC controls and machine platforms
  • Manufacturing or technical degree, or equivalent experience
