Overview

Owens Industries is seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist Lead for their 2nd shift in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. This hands-on leadership role involves supervising a small team of machinists while also working directly on advanced CNC machines, focusing on complex setups and quality assurance in a high-precision manufacturing environment serving the aerospace and defense industries.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of a 2nd shift team of 4 to 6 machinists
  • Perform hands-on CNC setups, prove-outs, and troubleshooting of complex parts
  • Operate CNC machines as needed to support workflow and priority jobs
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and quality requirements
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to ensure accuracy
  • Drive accountability for quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery
  • Communicate effectively with programming, quality, and day shift leadership
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce scrap and improve cycle times
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Required skills

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a high-precision environment
  • Strong experience with machine setup, tooling, and troubleshooting complex parts
  • Prior leadership or lead experience preferred
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Experience with 5-axis machining and exotic materials
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
