Overview

The CNC Lathe Machinist at Precision Gears, Inc. is responsible for manufacturing parts according to plant specifications in an accurate and timely manner. This role involves setting up, operating, and inspecting CNC lathes while ensuring a clean work area and performing minor machine maintenance.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up, edit, and operate CNC lathes
  • Inspect completed parts for conformance to specifications
  • Clean work area
  • Remove tooling, fixturing, and inspection equipment
  • Perform minor machine maintenance such as greasing and oiling

Required skills

  • Proficient with hand measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Blueprint reading and understanding specifications and routings
  • CNC programming (G code and M code)
  • Machine setup and operation
  • Mathematical skills for basic calculations and metric conversions
  • Good mechanical aptitude and/or prior machinist experience
  • Good oral and written communication skills
