Overview

United Gear & Assembly is seeking a CNC Horizontal Lathe Set up Operator for the 3rd shift in Hudson, Wisconsin. This role involves setting up and operating horizontal multi-axis lathes to perform various machining operations while ensuring adherence to quality specifications. The company prides itself on its craftsmanship and responsiveness to customer needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up and operate horizontal multi-axis lathes for machining operations
  • Review blueprints and QC documents to determine machine settings
  • Select and install tooling in accordance with job breakdown sheets
  • Inspect first run pieces and conduct spot checks for quality
  • Organize materials for subsequent runs to minimize changeover time
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and maintain cleanliness
  • Complete Daily Operator Checklist at the beginning of each shift

Required skills

  • Experience with Gear Cutting, Hobb and Lathe equipment
  • Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software
  • Intermediate reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
