Overview

The Clinical Nurse Manager at OhioHealth is responsible for ensuring the delivery of evidence-based patient care in the Surgery Main unit. This role includes planning, organizing, and directing nursing operations, while providing leadership and clinical management to the healthcare team. The position emphasizes collaboration, ongoing education, and quality improvement to promote patient safety and effective care delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Manager in the delivery and coordination of patient care in the clinical setting
  • Address concerns and resolve problems using data for quality improvement
  • Assist with planning and coordinating staffing schedules based on patient care needs
  • Oversee daily unit operations including staffing and patient admissions
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, and evaluation of personnel
  • Support staff development through orientation and continuing education
  • Engage in interdepartmental relationship building for collaborative management
  • Lead through clinical practice, supervision, and teaching
  • Promote cultural competency and safe working environment
  • Support nursing evaluative research activities within the department

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license from Ohio Board of Nursing
  • 2-3 years of nursing experience in related areas
  • Previous leadership experience in nursing roles
  • Skills in interpersonal relationships and communication
  • Competence in computer applications relevant to nursing responsibilities
