Overview

The Clinical Nurse I in Behavioral Medicine at CHRISTUS Health is a Registered Nurse responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, and ensuring quality service while fostering a positive work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Obtain and record initial patient assessments based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
  • Re-assess patients systematically to identify progress and necessary interventions.
  • Develop and implement measurable individualized care plans within established time frames.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on patient evaluations.
  • Participate in health education and discharge planning for patients and families.
  • Delegate unit work assignments and coordinate team efforts for patient care.
  • Exhibit effective communication strategies for patient satisfaction and teamwork.
  • Participate in the orientation of new staff and maintain a supportive work environment.
  • Adapt to changes in the work environment and schedule as needed.

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing
  • Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license
  • BLS Certification required or within 2 weeks of hire
  • Knowledge of patient rights and clear communication skills
  • Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the patient population served
