Overview

The Clinical Nurse I - Acute MedSurgical A at CHRISTUS Health is responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care specific to the needs of the assigned patient population. The role emphasizes quality care, effective communication, and teamwork while adhering to the unit's standards and organizational goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Obtain and record initial patient assessments
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Re-assess patients to monitor progress and needs
  • Participate in patient health education and discharge planning
  • Perform Point of Care testing procedures
  • Delegate unit work assignments to ensure patient care support
  • Coordinate team assignments and adjust based on patient needs
  • Assist with the orientation of new staff and students
  • Maintain positive customer relations and patient satisfaction
  • Comply with safety policies and professional growth requirements

Required skills

  • RN licensure in New Mexico or Compact state
  • BLS Certification required or within 2 weeks of hire
  • Current knowledge of nursing skills and patient care
  • Effective communication skills for varied patient ages
  • Ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented environment
