Job Description

Overview

The Clinical Lab Technologist at Mayo Clinic is responsible for performing analyses that support healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating patients. This role includes operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, troubleshooting assays, and ensuring the accuracy of test results in specialized laboratories.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform analyses to aid in patient diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and assay systems.
  • Troubleshoot assays and evaluate tests for accuracy.
  • Assist with interpreting results and assist in specimen collection.
  • Participate in operational support activities to optimize testing capabilities.
  • Work with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.
  • Adhere to safety protocols for handling infectious specimens and chemicals.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a biological science
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and assay systems
  • Ability to produce accurate results under time constraints
