Job Description

Overview

The Clinical Lab Technologist at Mayo Clinic plays a critical role in patient care by performing various laboratory tests and analyses. This position involves working with a range of specimens and utilizing different technologies to ensure accurate test results, all while adhering to quality control and safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect, receive, and process specimens safely and accurately.
  • Perform clinical testing using automated, semi-automated, and manual technology.
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Participate in external quality controls and laboratory competencies.
  • Maintain documentation and laboratory files.
  • Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy across all age ranges.
  • Perform operational support functions to facilitate workflow.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science
  • Microscopic analysis
  • Proficiency in medical laboratory procedures and instruments
  • Applied knowledge of Blood Bank theory
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and urinalysis
  • Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques
