Overview

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Clinical Lab Technologist in Sparta, Wisconsin. The role involves collecting and processing specimens, performing clinical testing, and ensuring quality control, all while effectively communicating with healthcare providers. This position requires working various shifts, including weekends and holidays, and offers opportunities for career advancement and continued education.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect, receive, and process specimens safely and accurately
  • Perform clinical testing using various automated and manual technologies
  • Conduct quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures
  • Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Participate in external quality controls and maintain laboratory documentation
  • Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy across all age ranges
  • Communicate critical values and clinical care effectively
  • Work in different laboratory sections such as Blood Banking, Clinical Chemistry, and Microbiology

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field
  • Proficiency in medical laboratory procedures and instruments
  • Microscopic analysis skills
  • Applied knowledge of Blood Bank theory and chemistry
  • Microbiology/PCR skills
  • Experience in Hematology/Coagulation
  • Demonstrated phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques
  • Knowledge in Urinalysis
