Overview

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Clinical Lab Technologist in Saint James, Minnesota. This role involves performing clinical testing, quality control procedures, and specimen processing with a dedication to patient care while upholding high standards of laboratory management and safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect, receive, and process specimens safely and accurately
  • Perform clinical testing using various automated, semi-automated, and manual technologies
  • Conduct quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with machines
  • Participate in external quality control programs
  • Maintain all laboratory documentation and files
  • Ensure competency in phlebotomy across all age ranges
  • Communicate critical values effectively to healthcare providers
  • Work in various sections of the laboratory including Blood Banking and Microbiology
  • Facilitate workflow through operational support functions
  • Be available for weekend, overnight, and holiday shifts

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field
  • Proficiency in medical laboratory procedures and instruments
  • Microscopic analysis skills
  • Knowledge of Blood Bank theory, applied chemistry, and hematology
  • Skills in Microbiology/PCR and Urinalysis
  • Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques
