Overview

The Clinical Lab Technologist at Mayo Clinic plays a vital role in patient care by collecting and processing specimens, performing clinical testing, and ensuring quality control in the laboratory. Key responsibilities

  • Collect, receive, and process specimens accurately and professionally
  • Perform clinical testing using various automated and manual technologies
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance procedures
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Participate in external quality controls and maintain laboratory documentation
  • Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy across all age ranges
  • Communicate critical values to providers and colleagues
  • Work in various sections of the laboratory and perform operational support functions

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field
  • Proficiency in medical laboratory procedures and instruments
  • Microscopic analysis
  • Knowledge of Blood Bank theory and applied chemistry
  • Microbiology and PCR skills
  • Applied Hematology and Coagulation knowledge
  • Phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques
  • Applied Urinalysis knowledge
