Overview

The Clinical Lab Technologist at Mayo Clinic in Menomonie is responsible for collecting and processing various specimens while performing clinical testing. The role requires adherence to quality control procedures and effective communication with healthcare providers.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect, receive, and process specimens safely and accurately
  • Perform clinical testing using automated, semi-automated, and manual technology
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance procedures
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
  • Participate in external quality controls and maintain laboratory documentation
  • Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy across all age groups
  • Perform operational support functions to facilitate workflow
  • Communicate critical values and clinical care effectively

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field
  • Microscopic analysis
  • Proficiency in medical laboratory procedures and instruments
  • Knowledge of Blood Bank theory, applied chemistry, and microbiology/PCR
  • Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques
  • Applied Hematology/Coagulation knowledge
  • Applied Urinalysis knowledge
