Overview

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Clinical Lab Technologist to join their team in Albert Lea, Minnesota. The role involves processing specimens and performing clinical testing using various technologies while ensuring accuracy and compliance with quality control standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect, receive, and process specimens in a professional manner
  • Perform clinical testing using automated, semi-automated, and manual technology
  • Conduct quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with machines
  • Participate in external quality controls and laboratory competencies
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and files
  • Perform phlebotomy across all age ranges
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding test results
  • Work in various laboratory sections: Blood Banking, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology/PCR, Urinalysis
  • Facilitate operational support functions to enhance workflow

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field
  • Microscopic analysis skills
  • Proficiency in medical laboratory procedures and instruments
  • Knowledge of Blood Bank theory and applied chemistry in a laboratory context
  • Skills in Microbiology/PCR and Hematology/Coagulation
  • Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques
  • Knowledge of Urinalysis in a laboratory context
