Job Description

Overview

The Senior Claims Specialist at Liberty Mutual Insurance will work within a Claims Team to manage and process moderately complex to complex claims. This role involves evaluating losses, negotiating settlements, and making decisions regarding liability and compensability while using the latest technology.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct investigations of claims, including interviewing insureds, witnesses, and claimants.
  • Evaluate documentation and secure evidence to confirm coverage and determine liability.
  • Assess policy coverage, notifying insureds of any issues and establishing reserve requirements.
  • Negotiate settlements within assigned authority limits and coordinate litigation activities.
  • Mentor and train new team members while assisting with escalated issues.
  • Participate in Quality Review processes and various claims-related meetings.

Required skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for customer communication and negotiation.
  • Leadership ability and time management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of claims case handling practices and legal liability.
  • General insurance policy knowledge and understanding of state tort laws.
  • 3 to 5 years of directly related work experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain applicable licenses.
