Job Description

Overview

Liberty Mutual is seeking a Complex Claims Specialist to manage Financial Lines Management Liability claims, including Directors & Officers Liability and Employment Practices liability claims. The role requires handling the full claim's life cycle from investigation to settlement while adhering to prescribed authority limits and involving regular travel to various claims offices.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze, investigate, and evaluate losses to determine coverage and claim disposition.
  • Utilize Liberty's claim system for documentation and follow-up.
  • Establish and review appropriate reserves for claims.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports as required.
  • Identify and communicate claim trends and issues to management.
  • Manage the litigation process and monitor case resolutions.
  • Participate in mediations and arbitrations within settlement authority limits.
  • Maintain insurance adjuster licenses as required.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree; J.D. is a plus.
  • 7+ years of claims/legal experience, with at least 2 years in a technical specialty.
  • Experience with Financial Lines and Professional Liability Claims.
  • Advanced knowledge of claims handling concepts and techniques.
  • Functional knowledge of law and insurance regulations.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision making, and negotiation skills.
