Overview

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking full-time and part-time Childcare Assistant Teachers to support classroom activities for young children in various centers across West Michigan. The role emphasizes engagement with children and collaboration with parents and staff to create a positive learning environment aligned with the organization's guiding principles.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Site Coordinator/Supervisor in developing and leading daily lesson plans
  • Engage actively with children in the classroom
  • Communicate daily with parents
  • Prepare materials for daily activities
  • Maintain attendance and supervision records for children
  • Assist in parent-teacher conferences as needed
  • Communicate efficiently with the classroom teaching team
  • Perform additional functions as required for smooth operation

Required skills

  • Associate's degree or CDA preferred, or current enrollment in related program
  • Three to six months of childcare-related experience
  • Ability to interact with diverse individuals
  • CPR and First Aid certifications within first 60 days
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training
