Job Description

Overview

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking both full-time and part-time Childcare Assistant Teachers to support infant, toddler, or preschool programs across multiple centers in West Michigan. This role involves assisting in classroom activities, engaging with children, and working closely with parents and the teaching team in a flexible schedule environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Site Coordinator/Supervisor in developing and leading daily lesson plans
  • Actively engage with children in the classroom
  • Communicate daily with parents
  • Prepare materials for daily activities
  • Maintain records of attendance and supervision of children
  • Assist in parent-teacher conferences as needed
  • Perform any necessary functions for the smooth operation of the YMCA

Required skills

  • Associate's degree or CDA preferred
  • Three to six months childcare related experience
  • Ability to interact with diverse populations
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance
  • Fingerprinting and DHS clearance
  • Negative T.B. skin test
  • Documentation of physical exam
