Job Description

Overview

Lutheran Services Florida is seeking a Child Welfare Coordinator to provide comprehensive case management services to clients and families in the Tampa area. This role involves establishing relationships based on the agency’s core values while delivering critical support to ensure the safety and well-being of children in care.

Key responsibilities

  • Accept assigned cases and meet with children and parents within specified time frames.
  • Negotiate and develop case plans in collaboration with families and relevant parties.
  • Conduct regular home visits, ensuring unannounced visits quarterly.
  • Document all case activities accurately and within required time frames in the Florida Safe Families Network database.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources and assist clients with referrals and service requests.
  • Prepare and attend court documentation and activities as necessary.
  • Conduct child safety and family functioning assessments as required.
  • Transport children and provide direct supervision as needed.
  • Complete all required training and adhere to safety and confidentiality standards.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field; degree in Social Work preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience working with children.
  • Child welfare certification within one year of hire date.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel.
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute.
  • Valid driver's license and appropriate auto liability insurance.
