Overview

Lutheran Services Florida is seeking a Child Welfare Consultant in Fort Myers to provide comprehensive case management services for children and families in need. This role emphasizes building relationships with families and communities while adhering to the agency's core values to ensure child safety and family support.

Key responsibilities

  • Accept and manage cases assigned by the unit supervisor.
  • Conduct home visits to children in their primary residence and meet assessment timelines.
  • Negotiate and develop case plans with families and relevant parties.
  • Document all case activities in the Florida Safe Families Network within required timeframes.
  • Maintain regular communication with service providers and document service progress.
  • Prepare and participate in court activities and documentation.
  • Conduct safety assessments and develop safety plans as needed.
  • Organize and conduct parental and sibling visits.
  • Transport children as required.
  • Attend appointments, meetings, and training as needed.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field; Social Work preferred.
  • At least one year of relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel.
  • Ability to drive locally and throughout the state.
  • Understanding of case management and child welfare practices.
  • Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of service populations.
