Job Description

Overview

Lutheran Services Florida is seeking a Child Advocate to provide comprehensive case management services for clients and families in need. The role focuses on establishing relationships, conducting assessments, and ensuring proper care while adhering to agency values and state regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Accept and manage cases assigned by unit supervisor.
  • Conduct family assessments within required timelines.
  • Negotiate and develop case plans with families and involved parties.
  • Document case activities and maintain organized physical files.
  • Provide timely referrals to services and maintain contact with service providers.
  • Complete required court documentation and participate in court activities.
  • Conduct child safety assessments and prepare safety plans as needed.
  • Transport children and arrange for emergency services when necessary.
  • Attend training sessions and complete mandated courses.
  • Function as on-call Case Manager as scheduled.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field, preferred in Social Work.
  • Minimum of one year relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and appropriate auto liability insurance.
  • Cultural sensitivity to diverse populations.
