Overview

Lutheran Services Florida is seeking a Child Advocate to provide comprehensive case management services to clients and families in the Tampa area. The role emphasizes establishing strong relationships and ensuring the safety and well-being of children, with a focus on permanency and family reunification.

Key responsibilities

  • Accept and manage assigned cases within required timelines
  • Conduct Family Assessments with identified parents
  • Develop and negotiate case plans with families and stakeholders
  • Document all case activities in the Florida Safe Families Network within 48 hours
  • Maintain and organize electronic case files according to guidelines
  • Provide clients with timely referrals to services
  • Complete and submit necessary court documentation and attend court activities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing safety and family functioning assessments
  • Transport children and supervise placements as needed
  • Participate in ongoing training and attend required meetings

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field, Social Work preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with children
  • Child welfare certification within one year of hire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute
  • Valid driver's license and auto liability insurance
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to diverse socioeconomic backgrounds
