Job Description

Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at William Newton Hospital is responsible for overseeing the financial management and strategy of the organization. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO manages budgeting, forecasting, financial risk, and develops long-term financial plans while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. The role requires collaboration with senior leadership and provides oversight for several departments within the hospital.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as financial council to Senior Leadership and Board of Trustees
  • Administer general accounting and patient business services
  • Participate in the development of hospital objectives and strategic planning
  • Develop operational and capital budgets
  • Monitor and analyze hospital financial performance
  • Prepare internal financial reports for audits and regulatory submissions
  • Explore cost reduction and revenue increasing strategies
  • Oversee daily operations of assigned departments
  • Facilitate decision making and coordinate goal development
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies

Required skills

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
  • CPA or Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and financial management experience
  • 3+ years of healthcare financial management experience preferred
  • Understanding of Critical Access Hospital (CAH) preferred
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Evident/CPSI software preferred
  • Department budget management skills
