Job Description

Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Prairie Band, LLC is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and administration of the organization. This role involves developing strategic financial plans in collaboration with senior leadership, managing financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulations while directing the organization's accounting and risk management activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting, risk, budget preparation, financial controls, and audit functions.
  • Facilitate cross-collaboration and create tools for reporting, analysis, and forecasting.
  • Monitor staff performance, development goals, and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external and internal auditors and regulators.
  • Prepare financial statements and regulatory reports, including tax returns and balance sheets.
  • Monitor and manage cash balances and cash forecasts.
  • Manage and invest excess funds and oversee the investment portfolio.
  • Coordinate with the executive team on strategic planning and priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate relevant issues to the CEO, COO, or appropriate staff.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; Master's degree or CPA preferred.
  • 5-10 years of management experience in a tribally-owned corporation or similar.
  • Experience as a CFO or Controller in government contracting.
  • Knowledge of Construction Accounting and accounting software like CostPoint or Unanet.
  • Proficiency in IT and computer knowledge relevant to the industry.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, plan, and prioritize effectively.
  • Good leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
