Job Description

Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at William Newton Hospital is responsible for the overall financial management and strategy of the organization. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial risk management, and the development of long-term financial plans while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as financial council to Senior Leadership and Board of Trustees
  • Administer general accounting and patient business services including third-party reimbursement
  • Participate in the development of hospital objectives and strategic planning
  • Develop long and short-range operational and capital budgets
  • Monitor and analyze hospital financial performance
  • Prepare internal financial reports and lead annual financial audits
  • Identify and report undesirable financial trends and opportunities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned departments
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize resources
  • Direct performance improvement activities in the departments

Required skills

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
  • CPA or Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting and financial management experience
  • 3+ years of progressive healthcare financial management experience preferred
  • Understanding of Critical Access Hospital (CAH) is preferred
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Working knowledge of current accounting principles and related laws
  • Advanced computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Evident/CPSI is preferred
