Description: Textum OPCO, LLC is hiring a Chemist for its Dayton, OH Composite Manufacturing operation. At Textum, we are committed to advancing material science through innovative solutions that cater to the aerospace, defense, energy, and infrastructure industries. Our expertise extends to developing high-performance textiles and composites that thrive in extreme environments. The Chemist will play a pivotal role in our materials development team, working on projects involving the formulation, characterization, and application of new and existing materials. This is an early career role, and the Chemist will work directly with more senior team members who will guide his/her activities.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry, specifically in polymer or materials science. They should be capable of conducting experiments, analyzing results, and collaborating with engineers and other scientists in a fast-paced environment. The Chemist will be involved in all stages of product development, from ideation through prototyping to production, but the majority of the job will be in production producing polymer resins in batch processing for internal use.This is a full-time, direct hire position with 1st shift hours. Textum OPCO, LLC is a drug-free work environment.Textum OPCO, LLC is an equal opportunity employer, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran or marital status, or based on any individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.Details of ResponsibilitiesPerform a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to: process documentation, product fabrication, internal and external communication, and supplier coordinationMaintain safety protocols and laboratory cleanliness while handling chemicalsRecord all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibilityConduct quality control on finished resin product and identify/document defectsFormulate and test new materials for performance in threshold conditionsCharacterize chemical properties and behaviors through laboratory experimentationCollaborate with engineers to integrate new materials into productsDocument research findings for internal and external communicationAssist in troubleshooting material issues in production processesMaintain equipment and assist in ordering suppliesSupport both production and R&D activities Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field is required2+ years of experience in chemical production or materials research is preferredExperience with polymer synthesis and characterization techniques is an advantageFamiliarity with analytical equipment such as NMR, FTIR, and TGA is desiredStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independentlyExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environmentProficiency in MS Office Suite and data analysis softwareCandidates will be required to pass a drug testCandidates will be required to pass a background checkPIcb54bb66a5-
