Overview

Brock & Company Inc. is seeking a Chef Manager II for a private school in Baltimore, Maryland. This hands-on culinary leadership role involves overseeing culinary operations, menu development, and staff management, within a vibrant school community. The ideal candidate will lead a team to create exceptional dining experiences while ensuring food safety and quality standards are met.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare food and supervise full-time kitchen staff in food preparation and service.
  • Provide leadership and training to meet organizational and client objectives.
  • Manage kitchen personnel and oversee related culinary activities.
  • Conduct weekly purchasing, monthly inventory management, and cash handling.
  • Establish presentation techniques and quality standards for menu items.
  • Ensure proper kitchen equipment operation and maintenance, following safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Oversee special catering events and provide culinary instruction or demonstrations.
  • Handle administrative duties, including budget management and reporting.

Required skills

  • Culinary degree or certification, or 7-9 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong culinary expertise in food preparation and safety.
  • Knowledge of budget management and employee training.
  • Time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong oral, reading, and written communication skills.
  • ServSafe and Allergen Awareness Certifications.
