Overview

The US Navy is seeking a Chaplain Corps Officer to provide spiritual care, counseling, and ethical leadership to service members and their families. This role involves supporting morale and resilience across various environments while ensuring the free exercise of religion for all. Chaplains will deliver religious ministry consistent with their faith, offer counseling, and act as advisors on ethical and morale-related matters.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver religious ministry consistent with faith tradition
  • Facilitate religious needs of personnel from various faith groups
  • Advise commanders on religious needs, morale, ethics, and command climate
  • Provide confidential counseling and crisis response
  • Serve as a staff or supervisory chaplain
  • Contribute to the culture and standards of Professional Naval Chaplaincy

Required skills

  • Eligibility to serve in the United States Navy Chaplain Corps
  • Medical, vision, and dental standards
  • Character and conduct standards with background screening
  • United States citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree and 72 semester hours from an accredited graduate theological school
  • Current ecclesiastical endorsement from a recognized religious organization
  • Professional religious ministry experience, ideally two years post-graduation
