Overview

As a Chaplain Corps Officer with the US Navy, you will provide spiritual care, counseling, and ethical leadership to service members and their families, fostering morale, readiness, and resilience. This role involves delivering religious ministry, offering confidential counseling, and advising commanders on religious and ethical matters in various environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver religious ministry consistent with your faith tradition, including worship services and pastoral care
  • Facilitate the religious needs of personnel from other faith groups
  • Advise commanders on matters of religious needs, morale, ethics, and command climate
  • Provide confidential counseling and crisis response
  • Serve as staff or supervisory chaplain as you gain experience
  • Contribute to the culture and standards of Professional Naval Chaplaincy

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree and a 72 semester hour graduate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Graduate level theological education
  • Current ecclesiastical endorsement from a recognized religious organization
  • At least two years of full-time professional religious ministry experience
  • Medical, vision, and dental standards compliance
  • Background screening for character and conduct standards
  • Eligibility for a security clearance
