Overview

The City of Big Spring Police Department is seeking applications for Certified Police Officer and Police Cadet positions. Interested candidates will participate in a competitive testing process, with entry-level officers receiving extensive training and support while fulfilling essential community safety roles.

Key responsibilities

  • Work forty hours per week with potential for overtime
  • Patrol designated areas and respond to emergencies
  • Complete required training and physical ability tests
  • Engage in community policing and public safety activities
  • Maintain effective communication with the public and other agencies

Required skills

  • Ability to meet Texas Commission on Law Enforcement certification requirements
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations
  • No recent drug use or criminal record above Class C Misdemeanor
