Job Description

Overview

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) at Life Care Center of South Hill will provide direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy to patients under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This full-time position involves working in a Skilled Nursing Facility, offering both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation services to a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

  • Follow occupational treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising OT
  • Chart appropriately and timely
  • Utilize therapy software appropriately and accurately
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Participate in community health matters/projects as appropriate
  • Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all associates and vendors
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information

Required skills

  • NBCOT certified
  • Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy
  • Currently registered/license in applicable State
  • One year experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
  • Understanding of practices and regulations in post acute care
  • Ability to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to function productively in an interdisciplinary team
