Overview

Duke Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for their Rheumatology department in South Durham, NC. This role involves providing direct and indirect patient care, while being a crucial part of the healthcare team dedicated to compassionate patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Medical and Nursing Staff in various tasks
  • Take medical histories and record vital signs
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
  • Authorize drug refills as per instructions
  • Telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures

Required skills

  • Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
  • High school or GED graduation
  • Level I: No experience required
  • Level II: 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required
  • BLS certification required
