Overview

Duke Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide routine administrative and patient care support in its Pulmonary department in Raleigh, North Carolina. This role involves assisting medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients while ensuring the smooth operation of the office.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist medical and nursing staff with tasks including taking medical histories and recording vitals
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
  • Perform phlebotomy and manage lab supply orders
  • Authorize drug refills as directed
  • Telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy
  • Perform clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients
  • Prepare patients for examination procedures
