Overview

Duke Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support the pediatric team at Duke Children's Creekstone in Durham, North Carolina. The role involves performing both routine administrative and patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in providing quality care to patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist medical and nursing staff in patient examinations and treatments.
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and managing patient medical records.
  • Take medical histories and record vital signs.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Assist patients with form completion and explain treatment procedures.
  • Perform tasks including vaccinations, EKGs, and patient intake.

Required skills

  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
  • Experience with laboratory specimen collection and medication administration.
