Overview

Duke Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support both administrative and patient care duties in their Raleigh-based Otolaryngology clinic. The role involves assisting medical staff with examinations and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform intake with patients including vital signs and clinical information
  • Take telephone messages and document encounters with patients
  • Administer medications as ordered by providers
  • Participate in performance improvement projects
  • Set up for clinical procedures and perform disinfection and sterilization tasks
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment
  • Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated

Required skills

  • Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA
  • BLS certification
  • Experience in patient care and administrative support
  • Knowledge of medication administration protocols
