Overview

Duke Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join the Duke Endocrinology team in Cary, North Carolina. This role is integral to providing both direct and indirect care to patients, supporting the healthcare team in a variety of clinical tasks.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform patient intake including vital signs and clinical information.
  • Administer medications as ordered by providers or established protocols.
  • Review educational information with patients and families based on diagnosis.
  • Draw blood for laboratory testing.
  • Conduct Point of Care testing and maintain quality control.
  • Stock and maintain inventory of patient care supplies and linens.
  • Float to other specialties as needed.
  • Download and print diabetes device data.
  • Participate in performance improvement projects.
  • Maintain clinical environment in compliance with JCAHO and OSHA regulations.

Required skills

  • Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA
  • BLS certification
  • 1 year of clinical experience preferred for Level II
