Overview

Duke Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join the team at Duke Primary Care Timberlyne, located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The CMA will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and support in a clinical setting, assisting medical and nursing staff with various tasks to ensure smooth operation of the clinic.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect medical histories and monitor vital signs
  • Explain treatments to patients and prepare them for exams
  • Assist medical staff with patient care, including gathering lab samples and conducting basic lab tests
  • Perform EKGs, remove sutures, change dressings, and educate patients about care
  • Document patient information and ensure accurate medical records
  • Greets patients, schedules appointments, and handles patient check-out
  • Coordinate hospital admissions and lab services
  • Manage billing tasks and collect copays
  • Participate in clinic committees and assist with clinic activities

Required skills

  • Certified Medical Assistant certification
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and sterile techniques
  • Ability to lift heavy items and assist in patient transport
  • Experience in clinical settings (varies by level)
  • Typing skills and ability to document effectively
