Duke Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for the Asthma, Allergy, and Airway Center in Durham, NC. The role involves providing direct and indirect patient care and supporting the healthcare team in various clinical tasks.
Key responsibilities
Assist medical and nursing staff in taking medical histories and recording vitals
Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
Perform phlebotomy and manage lab supply orders
Authorize drug refills and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy
Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
Explain treatment procedures to patients
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
Perform allergy procedures
Required skills
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA
BLS certification
Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting
