Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Title: Certified Counselor (CADC, CATC, SUDCC)Salary: $27-29/hrJob Summary:The Counselor provides direct support and therapeutic services to clients in a PHP/IOP outpatient treatment setting. The role includes facilitating recovery-focused treatment through individual and group, counseling, crisis intervention, and discharge planning. The Counselor also maintains accurate and timely documentation using the agency's Electronic Health Records (EHR) system and supports the development of treatment materials and program curriculum.Duties and Responsibilities:Conduct individual and group counseling sessionsCollaborate with clients on treatment plans and recovery goalsProvide crisis intervention as neededEducate individuals, couples, and families on recovery and behavioral healthSupport relapse prevention and discharge planningAssist with resident activities and therapeutic engagementTrain Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) on group facilitationSupervise RADT hours and provide feedbackDevelop group curriculum, individual assignments, and family session materialsAttend staff and treatment team meetingsMaintain resident documentation in compliance with APA, state, and federal regulationsGather and document biopsychosocial histories, including mental status examsPerform assessments on substance use, mental health, and social historyRefer to appropriate services when neededOther duties as assignedCore Competencies:Ability to identify symptoms of substance use and co-occurring disordersStrong skills in rapport building and maintaining therapeutic relationshipsProficient in conducting assessments and screeningsAbility to collaborate on treatment plansExperience facilitating individual and group sessionsEffective time management and organizational skillsCommitment to APA and CCAPP ethical codesQualifications:Certified CounselorMinimum of 1 year clean and sober (if in recovery)Required Knowledge:12-Step Recovery principlesGroup, individual, and family counseling modalitiesDual diagnosis and addiction treatment best practicesRecognizing and managing withdrawal symptoms and intoxicationEmergency referral and treatment coordinationLocal community resources and referral proceduresKey Skills:Strong listening and communication abilitiesCompetent in data entry and EHR documentationConfident group facilitation and counseling skills
