Job Description

Overview

The GEO Group is seeking a Certified Correctional Officer for a 12-hour flexible shift in Pensacola, Florida. This role involves supervising and caring for inmates while ensuring adherence to facility rules and protocols. The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn and contribute positively to the rehabilitation process.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor inmates in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas
  • Coordinate inmate movement and conduct counts
  • Ensure safety during program activities and supervise labor crews
  • Conduct shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items
  • Maintain daily logs on inmates including disciplinary reports
  • Provide assistance to injured or ill inmates
  • Report maintenance or repair needs to maintain facility cleanliness

Required skills

  • Correction Certification through FDLE
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification
  • College coursework in behavioral sciences or correctional services preferred
  • Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity preferred
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Ability to handle physical and mental stress
  • Work experience in a correctional setting preferred
