Job Description

Overview

The CDL-A Local Driver / Forklift Operator at ABF Freight is responsible for the pickup and delivery of cargo within proximity of the consolidation/distribution center. This role involves loading and unloading trailers, operating forklifts, and performing various related tasks while complying with safety regulations and weight distribution laws.

Key responsibilities

  • Pickup and delivery of cargo to and from various locations
  • Load and unload cargo using techniques and procedures of a dock worker
  • Operate a forklift as needed
  • Perform check-in, inspection, and setup of tractors/trailers
  • Complete routine paperwork and log loading sheets
  • Exercise independent judgment regarding trailer operations

Required skills

  • Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker, and hazardous materials endorsements
  • 1 year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience
  • Safety regulations and compliance
  • Teamwork and time management skills
  • Good stable work and safe driving record
