Overview

The Catheterization Laboratory Technologist II at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills plays a critical role in performing advanced imaging and operational tasks during various cardiac catheterization procedures. This position focuses on expert equipment operation, strict adherence to sterile techniques, and maintaining patient safety while training junior staff and acting as a key resource within the department.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform advanced imaging and operational tasks during cardiac catheterization procedures, including complex structural heart cases.
  • Ensure major equipment is operational and document quality control; report issues through the chain of command.
  • Participate in daily room checks and stocking of supplies.
  • Ensure appropriate patient information and equipment setup for assigned procedures.
  • Adhere to aseptic technique and patient safety protocols during procedures.
  • Collaborate with the procedure team to ensure patient care and departmental efficiency.
  • Support patient transport and engage in knowledge sharing with team members.
  • Act as a radiation safety representative for patients and staff while X-Ray is in use.
  • Serve as a preceptor for Technicians and Technologists I.
  • Promote and uphold the CHRISTUS mission, vision, and values.

Required skills

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology Technology or equivalent
  • 2 years of Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology, or Cath/EP Lab experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or equivalent certification
  • State Licensure based on modality (e.g., Texas MRT or LMRT)
