Overview

The Catheterization Laboratory Technician II at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - San Marcos is a crucial member of the cath lab team, skilled in supporting diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role involves ensuring the lab is meticulously prepared, maintaining sterile techniques, and documenting patient information accurately, while also serving as a resource for junior technicians and technologists.

Key responsibilities

  • Promote organizational principles of Catholic healthcare.
  • Ensure equipment is operational and document quality control.
  • Participate in room checks and stock supplies.
  • Access daily patient schedules and ensure appropriate room configuration.
  • Collaborate with procedure teams for patient care and efficiency.
  • Document patient information accurately in systems.
  • Ensure patient safety and procedure support.
  • Train and operate cath lab equipment.
  • Adhere to aseptic techniques and organizational policies.
  • Engage in patient transport as needed.
  • Act as a radiation safety representative during procedures.
  • Support process improvement and uphold organizational values.
  • Serve as a preceptor for junior staff.

Required skills

  • Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, or a healthcare-related field preferred
  • 2 years of Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology, or Cath/EP Lab experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Certification as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or other relevant certifications
