Overview

The Catheterization Laboratory Technician I at CHRISTUS Health plays a crucial role in supporting diagnostic, interventional cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology procedures. This position involves preparing the lab, assisting the medical team, ensuring sterile technique, and maintaining patient safety through effective operation of specialized equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare the lab, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Assist the medical team during cardiac catheterization and EP procedures
  • Ensure accurate patient documentation and maintain sterile technique
  • Operate and troubleshoot specialized cath lab equipment
  • Participate in daily room checks and stocking of supplies
  • Collaborate with the procedure team to ensure patient care and departmental efficiency
  • Document patient information and procedure details in relevant systems
  • Train to set up and operate various cath lab equipment
  • Act as a radiation safety representative for patients and team
  • Adhere to organizational policies related to patient safety and privacy

Required skills

  • Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology or a related field preferred
  • 0-1 year of experience in an acute care setting preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Various preferred certifications in cardiovascular and imaging technologies
